Taking examples from the our everyday lives ranging from common plants to the high-tech electronic device, this course serves as an introduction of the basic concepts of nanometer scale science and technology. The main content of the course includes the development history of nanoscale science, the implication of nanometer scale-related scientific discoveries in our lives, technology transfer from the basic scientific understandings to improve our live quality, and future perspective of nanotechnology. A wide scope of human lives from environmental, energy, to biotechnology, and even medicine will be covered, and common misconceptions of nanoscience and technology will be clarified.
